Compact Muon Solenoid Experiment

H (125) → ττ Channel

We strongly contributed to the analysis that observed Higgs boson decays to τ leptons. The analysis has constituted the first measurement of Higgs bosons coupling to fermions. Together with the non-observance of the muonic decay mode, it gives also direct proof of the non-universality of the Higgs coupling, which is expected in the Standard Model. Once the latter is measured, it will allow a precise investigation of the mass dependence of the Higgs coupling.
The H → ττ analysis has been updated recently. We now make use of machine learning techniques for categorising signal and background processes. Additionally, interpretations of our results in the context of the Simplified Template Cross Section (STXS) framework have been added.
